Things to do While You Are In Blue Ridge

History:

Take a walk through Historic Downtown Blue Ridge, once known as a “boom town” and popular for it’s resorts and mineral spas back in the early 1800’s. Blue Ridge has preserved or renovated many of the old buildings from that era which are now filled with quaint shops, restaurants and businesses. Be sure to stop in at the Fannin Co. Chamber of Commerce to pick up a self guided walking map which has many points of interest.

Lake Blue Ridge Marina – Welcome to Lake Blue Ridge Marina nestled in the foothills at the gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains. This full service marina offers everything one needs to “get away from it all” and enjoy the vacation of a lifetime! At the marina you can rent a pontoon boat, launch your own craft, gas up at the gas dock, get your supplies for a great day on the lake at the store or just browse the showroom and pick out your favorite water craft for the experience of a life time.

Whitewater Rafting – Check out the many guided Ocoee River trips and have the ride of your life!

River Trips – Whether it’s an easy float on a tube you like or fast pace in a kayak, there is something for everyone on the Toccoa River.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Horseback Ridging – There are many outfitters in the area to cater to your equestrian needs.  Some offer campfire dinners and sunset trips. My favorite is Blanc Manor

 

 

 

 

 

 

Guided Fishing Trips – Blue Ridge is famous for its fly fishing!  We have fully stocked rivers and streams with experienced guides to take you to the best secret spots.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mountain Biking and HikingBlue Ridge is the mecca of mountain biking with literally hundreds of groomed trails within a short drive.  Bike rentals are available in town at Cycle South as well as Cartecay Bike shop in Ellijay and the NOC. Be sure to pick up a trail map while you are there. With the Benton McKay and Appalachian Trails crisscrossing our county so you are just minutes from a hiking trail head.   There are numerous waterfalls to take in which are just short hikes from the main road.  Pack a lunch and head explore our amazing area.  Trail maps are available at the Chamber.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway Enjoy a train ride alongside the beautiful Toccoa River from Blue Ridge to McCaysville. Board the train in historic Blue Ridge. The view changes with the seasons, wildflowers and mountain laurel in the spring, rhododendron in the summer, gorgeous foliage in the fall and a ride with Santa and his elves for Christmas.
