Corporate Challenge

Looking for a wonderful way to increase camaraderie at your company and get fit all for a great cause? The Corporate Challenge at the Escape to Blue Ridge Tri the Mountains Triathlon is just the thing!

There are 2 ways to win: the Corporate Cup is awarded to the company with the fastest time. Recognition will also be given to the team that raises the most money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!

Anyone who is interested in starting a team at their company is welcome to compete! Do everything you can to organize your team through the various clubs and volunteer organizations at your company.

Once you’ve rounded up your corporate posse, sign-up via online registration. Members of your team will sign-up for the race individually or as relay teams. Remember to check the box that reads “I’m interested in becoming a St. Jude Hero” Fundraising pages will be created on behalf of each team member within 2-3 days of registering.

To participate in the Corporate Challenge, individuals are responsible for the race entry fee plus a minimum amount of $150 in pledges/donations. Relay teams are responsible for the race entry fee plus the minimum amount of $150 per athlete in pledges/donations. All pledges/donations benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

As a participant in the Corporate Challenge, each team member will receive the following:

  • Event T-Shirt
  • Event Hat
  • Team Racking in the transition area

How to Form a Team

•Establish a point person and a core group of 3 –5 people to promote the team and coordinate the activities
•Contact your company’s volunteer or activities organization and see how they can help you spread the word
•Work with your company’s Fitness Center to promote the team to employees using event materials (brochure, flyers, etc.) and to establish organized workouts
•Work with event staff to help direct you to industry professionals that can provide clinics, presentations, and workouts
•Utilize company bulletin boards, intranets, common areas, and high traffic locations to promote participation

Getting Started

•ETBRTMT will provide an on-site presentation/orientation to triathlon at your company
•ETBRTMT will work with your company to organize clinics and training sessions
•ETBRTMT will organize an open water swim clinic for your team
•The event will put your company in touch with other participating companies to help learn from their experience and success

Suggested Goals

•Recruit as many team members as you can get for the Escape to Blue Ridge Tri the Mountains Triathlon
•Organize 3 –5 group meetings/social events prior to the event in July
•Establish organized swims, runs and bikes prior to the event
•Invite at least one industry professional/triathlete to speak to your group. Event will give best efforts to have a professional triathlete come to speak
•Raise as much money as you can for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!
